NB: Special Announcements I have ticked both under My News and In-App. When hitting the In-App Sample link, I get various project news, when hitting the My News, I do get the Maintenance news of Oct. 23 at top i.e. suggesting the maintenance news does not go to Notices (and did not get it).

Not that it bothers me, the 4 core test box idling since about 14:00 UTC with a zero buffer setting... the test was just ended prematurely by WCG. cool

You require 'Program News' checked for 'In-App Notifications'. I changed it recently and got the announcement.

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

I got the notice - yesterday. This is why running with a zero buffer is a bad idea. One is supposed to be able to let your WCG run in the background and not have to babysit. Unfortunately there are some projects that have problems with using a decent buffer or cannot be run without babysitting.

Cheers coffee

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

We are in the final phase of the work now. The change has gone as expected. The cluster software is running a final disk check and once that completes we will be able to resume normal operations.

The new version of the software does resolve an issue we had been experiencing where rebooting a single server results in the filesystem being unmounted across the cluster which is why we were applying this version of the software.

We have also enabled some additional settings to improve performance (not that it was struggling, but we hadn't done any tuning of the software to our hardware and configuration yet and we wanted to get the settings recommended from IBM support in place).

I expect it will take about another 40 minutes to complete this last item and we will be able to bring things back online.

I don't get it - I did not have this item checked, as I was 100% sure that having item called "System Updates" with description "Research work availability, planned maintenance outages and other system updates" checked is enough to be aware about any planned maintenance outages. Well, some cores are now idling, hopefully not for long, according to the previous post.

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

The disk scan is still running. Unfortunately there is no % complete counter on it so I cannot give you an exact time. I will update you once it finishes and the system is back to normal.

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

And now the disk scan is done. You should be able to interact with the system as normal.
