My T7400 does sound like a turbo jet under full load, so it is relegated to being run in the basement.

I talked to their engineers about this and they said it's OK as long as the CPU is not throttling due to excess temperatures (Tj,max). Hmm, I'd expect more from a top workstation...

Found a UK source of foxconn 1u servers @ $420 for 2* E5-2650 + 48GB. (32t *2.4G loaded)
----------------------------------------Would need heatsinks and fans and possibly some modding of a pwm signal so that the baby fans can be removed for silence. I would guesstimate total cost to be $600 US if psu was silent too. Just offering this as a value comparison  |

I was just checking the prices in my country...can get T3500 or T5500 from 200-350€...probably will do that till the summer, as a next upgrade!
