Hi, I'm going out in vacation and I want to stop the agent just after it completes a unit of work. But I don't want it to capture the next unit of work now, only when I'm back. How can I do that? I've browsed the Help, FAQs, Forums but found no answer. Thank you.

Uh, you could always have it be disconnected from the internet. However, I think that if your vacation is longer than 3 weeks, then that may be a problem as that becomes the limit on the wall time. So basically just have the computer be disconnected from the internet, and it won't get the next work unit.

It will be OK if you simply turn your computer off whenever you need to. Each work unit is computed by more than one machine anyway so that the answers can be compared for equality. This lets the servers discard computations that are in error due to any hardware or software problems. When you get back from vacation, the work unit that was started will either finish if you had a shorter vacation or immediately time-out. If it times-out, then your machine will get a new work unit automatically. This will not cause a problem for us either way.
Thank you for checking though. |

I think that I know what this person is trying to do: In effect, drain the queue..send in the last result and shut down.
----------------------------------------Unfortunately there is not a way to do this ... other than to do as someone above suggested. A slight modification of that is to unplug from the network and let it run till it finishes. Once it finishes, then it will try to send in results and will not be able to. You can then plug it back in, doubleclick the icon and watch it send the results in. Then, quickly, before it has time to download a new work unit, unplug it from the network again and shut the machine down. Crude and labor intensive but the only way I know of to do what you want. Of course the other answers given above are correct but if I read you right, this is more nearly what you were after. Good luck and enjoy your vacation. |

That would be a nice feature maybe for the future. To have a button which tells the agent to not download another workunit after the current workunit is finished.
