Monster WU spotted

I've managed to snag what appears to be an absolute monster of a WU, HST1_ 009693_ 000054_ AC0024_ T300_ F00091_ S00014_ 1--.

It is 66% done with a runtime of 1 day and 20 hours with another estimated 23 hours to go.

The laptop it is running on has been crunching the recent SCC units in under 3 hours so while it isn't the fastest machine in the world, I really didn't expect any unit here to be taking almost 3 days runtime.

Anybody else got one of these behemoths?

Re: Monster WU spotted

My old (nearly 7 yr old) Lenovo T410 normally takes just under 2 days to crunch the 'biggie' HST WU's.

My big ones take about 16 hours.

Re: Monster WU spotted

As I hadn't seen anything in the forum about units having such long runtimes it threw me seeing the estimated time to finish as over 1 day. Don't think I have seen any unit for any project I have run give such an estimate.

The laptop is an AMD dual core running at about 2.1ghz. It has been plodding through the unit for the last 2 days at work, as it is the weekend it will have a break and then back to it on Monday.

Glad that it should complete in time, as at that kind of runtime it isn't going to suit all users here at WCG. Someone who crunches for a couple of hours a day may not complete it in time.

Re: Monster WU spotted

Any of the TB work units with T300,T325,T350 or T400 in their name will be the long running units. I have some which were run on a Xeon x5650. They all seem to run in the 18 to 23 hour range. The shorter ones like T000 or T001 seem to take 2 to 3 hours. Somewhere near the beginning of the project there were a couple of posts about work unit length.See here
Cheers

Are you sure it is not one of the" Hung Up" processes? I have had some 30 + hr work units. However, I was just awarded the same number of credits as a 24 hr work unit.

Re: Monster WU spotted

As it is slowly progressing through, the boinc client says it is crunching at just under 1.5% per hour and it seems to be check pointing on a regular basis, then I don't think it is hung up rather a unit far larger than I have seen before. It will be interesting to see what runtime my wingman has on this one.

Thanks for the link Sgt Joe, I missed that previously.

Just out of curiosity how do you gain access to what the wingman's results are?

On the result status page you click on the result name, and you get the details for both tasks: sample below
SCC1_ 0000237_ Lin-ZNF-A_ 35570_ 2-- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) - In Progress 4/1/17 19:13:19 4/11/17 19:13:19 0.00 0.0 / 0.0
SCC1_ 0000237_ Lin-ZNF-A_ 35570_ 1-- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) - In Progress 4/1/17 17:42:38 4/11/17 17:42:38 0.00 0.0 / 0.0
SCC1_ 0000237_ Lin-ZNF-A_ 35570_ 0-- Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 Edition, (06.03.9600.00) 708 Error 4/1/17 17:42:29 4/1/17 19:13:14 0.00 32.4 / 0.0

Is that what you are looking for?
