How can I automatically switch processing between different projects?
----------------------------------------The settings for each Project (not application) are a little different and I cannot come up with a set of parameters which works for both. Einstein has "switch between tasks" and World Community has "switch between applications". World Community has "project weight" but there is nothing like that in Einstein. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks [Edit 1 times, last edit by JIMG4956 at Aug 21, 2016 10:01:02 PM] |

"switch between tasks" and "switch between applications" are the same thing and change at one site will be reflected at the other after update.
----------------------------------------"project weight" at Einstein is Resource share on Account, Preferences, Project. "Determines the proportion of your computer's resources allocated to this project. Example: if you participate in two BOINC projects with resource shares of 100 and 200, the first will get 1/3 of your resources and the second will get 2/3." Note this is a long term average. Thanks for the clarification.
I now have both projects "weight" set at 100 (50%) each. All the other parameters are set the same for both projects. This computer has 2 processors, so they sort of share, but not equally because the Einstein tasks "Gamma-ray pulsar binary search" are much bigger (about 11 hours run time vs about 4 hours for the World Community tasks "Mapping Cancer Markers"). They seem to run in pairs - not one type on each processor. But, this hasn't really settled down yet because I had the Queues all messed up. So part of the question is: What is the definition of resources? Processors, or processing time, or memory, or some combination? Anyway, it's sort of a curious question to try to figure out. |

Pure computing time (tracked in form of earned REC), but over a longer period.
----------------------------------------BTW, a project weight of 100 is default value, so if you would have had 3 projects attached to the client, and active, each would get ~33% over time, until you change the value on the location profiles.
