windows 10 reports as windows 8.1

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 recently. In the Results Status, all my returns show as "Microsoft Windows 8.1" -- what's going on with that?

Re: windows 10 reports as windows 8.1

Thanks -- I installed 64-bit version 7.6.29 and that worked. I previously had the "recommended" WCG 32-bit version. While the new version was installing, I realized I should have probably uninstalled the old version first, since the new version goes in a different directory. But the installer was smart enough to uninstall the old version, and delete most of the stuff out of the old directory for 32-bit stuff.

BTW, I did a search on the answer to my question, and WCG just returned too many threads.

Re: windows 10 reports as windows 8.1

The art of search ... just used 3 words with the capital AND between them as boolean operator and got just 2 hits. smile

BOINC is designed to uninstall the old version first, but if you change bit size on the go, and possibly switch between user and service install, the BOINC data dir could change, at which point the old residuals will stay behind. In that case if you have any app_config.xml, cc_config.xml etc you'd have to copy them over (goes without saying, really :)

BTW, think knreed wrote a while ago to be working on a new WCG BOINC kit, as their internal stats will be very off... many will be reporting something different to the W10 they have.
