Anne Holohan wrote a book about us "Crunchers" and distributed computing! Here is the Amazon.com link to the book:
Community, Competition and Citizen Science: V...ing in a Globalized World It is a shame she did not base her insights and research on WCG, but rather focused on SETI@home, ClimatePredicition.net, "GIMPS" (Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search) and Folding@home in her book. IMHO, this should be required reading for all WCG personnel as this discusses motivation of volunteers though science, competition and community. From what little I have read, this is a worthwhile publication about volunteer distributed computing that appears to be a fairly balanced and a well researched publication. |

Interestingly, her author's page doesn't link to the Kindle edition.

And it's already posted here with a link to the book as a free PDF.
