To whom,
After running for months without issues on a Win 10 64bit system, Norton just removed wcgrid_ugm1_7.28_windows_intelx86 from: C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org Could not get an answer from Norton as to why this file was quarantined, except for bad reputation. Who can work with Norton to help clear up this issue with their detection? I would hate to see auto removal start taking WCG off of contributor's computers. Thanks for any follow up. Restoring the file worked and subsequent Norton scans show no issue. My Norton case is 27582052 if that helps any official reading this thread. "except for bad reputation", you wonder who the people are that gave that rating to a science app file just because Norton broke a sweat [it's not on my favored list]. The number of false positives on BOINC are endless [because AV software like Norton does not like repetition over and over again, which is what these science apps do]. To stop that, set a scan exclusion to what the BOINC Data dir, usually C:\ProgramData\BOINC and all it's subs. It's safe, because BOINC runs in a limited rights / sandboxed environment.

Norton is a trash AV program. Once a background scan starts, you can't stop it unless you restart, and it uses 25% CPU regardless of which one you're on. Not to mention the sheer number of WS.Reputation1 carp (yes, carp; you know) on 50% of files. Keep away if possible.
