Greetings,
----------------------------------------Starting on June 12th, 2016, BAM! changed the URL used for World Community Grid from http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org to https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org. This change to the url is causing the BOINC client to detach from World Community Grid with a message like this: Account manager: Delayed detach from World Community Grid, project changed URL. After detaching project will reattach with new URL on next communication! The BOINC client will automatically complete the current work in progress, then detaches from World Community Grid. Once this is complete, your client will contact BAM! and get the updated url and attach again. It will download new work and continue working. No action is required by the members, the BOINC client will attach automatically. Thanks, -Uplinger [Edit 1 times, last edit by uplinger at Jun 14, 2016 6:57:27 PM] |

Thanks a lot !
Now I understand why all my BOINC clients switched to "No new work" and told me they will detach from WCG when all tasks are done. I was looking everywhere to understand what kind of mistake I made. ![]() |

After BAM has re-attached WCG to https, i get the message: This project is using an old URL. When convenient, remove the project then add http:// ... (wcg).
----------------------------------------I'm not sure what is happening next, but as I posted in the other thread, at another project I had the same BAM http/https change, which ended up in a loop of auto-detaching and auto-re-attaching to one and then the other again, sometimes the project was gone entirely, sometimes it was connected to both http and https at the same time. This lasted for several days, leaving clients mostly idle. addendum: I just let my Android device perform the change to https. That is to say, manually, as the BAM sync was stalled for hours without WCG attached. Now it got some tasks, but they can't download. In the GUI messages tab, it says: E/BOINC_GUI/7254) getProjectInfo: could not find info for https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 15, 2016 10:57:23 AM] |

After last night's experience it's a 'Who has done it.' butler question once more. What happened was a clean BOINC install as going from W10 10240 build to 10586 whiped all apps and ProgramData content. When attaching WCG, picking it from the list, this thoroughly failed, until editing the address to start with https instead of http.
So, whazzup? (Seems like not Willy changed something, but someone a level up in the structure) |

Greetings,
During my testing of the https and http version of our url. Both point towards https://scheduler.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi. However, the scheduler always returns http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org. This is causing members attached using BAM! to have an extra warning saying to detach and reattach to the http version of our website. As a result of this, I have asked the owner of BAM! to change the url back to http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org on their site. This will cause members attached to World Community Grid using BAM! to get another round of delayed detached messages. There is no action needed by the members as their client will process this automatically. Thanks, -Uplinger |

My hosts have both gone through the allegedly automagic change multiple times. I am still getting the message and have lost much of the past two days to this. Interestingly, Project - Properties says I am on http. However, when I click on WCG in BAM it takes me to https. Will defer to those of you more knowledgeable but it looks like the problem is on the BAM side.

Interesting. I just checked again and now the BAM link is simply www. Maybe we are fixed?

I do not write in English.
One of my pcs has finished detached the WCG project but has not automatically re-attached the project. What should I do? |

That was sure to go happen for some victims of this... for instance, is the box ticked at BAM to default attach WCG to a client?
----------------------------------------Unless you're a patient men, then manually re-add WCG. If it refuses with the address from the pick list which has on mine http in front, change that to https and try again. BTW, there is a Sync/Update with BAM kind of menu option **. This expedites any open actions that have to be communicated. Maybe the re-add will happen then... else revert to my previous post.
** My BAM is set to connect 1x in 24 hours, so [I guess] it would first do the detach, wait 24 hours, then do the next action, hopefully the add-back. |
