Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Did anyone posting lately read any of this thread?
If you don't have the secret handshake,
you get nothing!!! (I'm not telling you)
Read some of this thread there are lots of hints.
Ok, one hint, it's a pain to get work units....

With the limited supply, I am not chasing them. I listed it as an option together with MCM1 and I get about 1 every two days across about 30 cores. I am guessing, eventually they will increase the supply. They may be just figuring out how to deal with the existing volume until they ramp up. Maybe they (the scientists) will eventually tell why the slow start - just cautious maybe ?
Cheers

Have, hands down had an average of 2-3 computing days / day worth in past week. By october at this pace will have emerald, so my hunting tool projects.

Befriend Harry P, who now seems to have gained a child in episode 8 😀

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

We have just increased the rate of distribution of the work units by 2 per the researchers request. Instead of loading 100 work units every 30 minutes we will be loading 200.

Thanks,

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

That's excellent news Keith - as hopefully, there'll now be a greater chance of grabbing one or two WU's.

Just a thought/consideration though, whilst the demand far exceeds supply, what are your feelings of limiting Wu's to (say) 2 WU's/core. The "mega" crunchers should still get their fill, yet allow a greater spread of WU's to the wider crunching community. It might also speed the return of WU's up - as people (once they knew), would push their HST1 WU's to the front of their queue.

gb009761, there is an easy way to bypass such a limitation you recommend.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I have been running HSTB successfully on my windows 10 machine for many weeks by asking for work at the recommended times. My last download of HSTB was at 13:47 UTC on 15th July. Since then the messages received are:

16-Jul-2016 13:39:23 [World Community Grid] [sched_op] Starting scheduler request
16-Jul-2016 13:39:23 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
16-Jul-2016 13:39:23 [World Community Grid] Requesting new tasks for CPU
16-Jul-2016 13:39:23 [World Community Grid] [sched_op] CPU work request: 473038.53 seconds; 0.00 devices
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] [sched_op] Server version 701
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] No tasks sent
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] Tasks are committed to other platforms?
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] Project requested delay of 121 seconds
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] [sched_op] Deferring communication for 00:02:01
16-Jul-2016 13:39:26 [World Community Grid] [sched_op] Reason: requested by project

It is always the message of tasks allocated to other platforms.
Is anyone else able to get HSTB work units for Windows?
Is it a coincidence that armstrdj published an entry in this forum at 15:08 UTC July 15th that Mac OSX processing of HSTB would be stopped

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Noon stats do not provide an indication, but possibly there's so many broken OS-X copies circling, that the flow is being obstructed for other platforms too... come normale

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I get the "Tasks are committed to other platforms" message on my Linux machines, too.
My last timestamp of HST1 WUs is 15:36 UTC on July 15.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

New results should be flowing soon. We had an issue with script that loads work. It has been fixed and we will soon be loading work for HST again.

Thanks,
-Uplinger
