Nice try, but I can't (quite) agree. I've had WUs run quite happily over 2 days on my slow machine. I know the lack of checkpoints is an issue, but if one can run for 18 hours without checkpoint and without problems, why not 48? I understand it's a balancing act, but I still maintain that this beta is tipping the balance.
But enough, I think we're in danger of wandering off topic. |

Here's a WCG tech answer from 2013 [semantic, if you ask me] but https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=443854 "the 18 hours is not hard coded" or to paraphrase, it's not in the app itself but a kill switch parm 'they' made the app check for at start.

Greetings everyone,
Thank you for helping us test these type B work units from CEP2. We saw a higher than normal amounts of errors and may have a solution for them. We are working with the researchers to get updated work units and will be starting a new test with these when they are available. Thanks, -Uplinger |
