Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 Beta Feb 24, 2016 [ Issues Thread ]

Running a task:
BETA_ E236293_ 103_ S.314.C35F1H23N8S1.LSGSCQNLBZYTFV-UHFFFAOYSA-N.5_ s1_ 14_ 2--
Time estimate was 5 or so hours.
Ran over 4 hours so far and no checkpoints.
22.6% complete
Maybe it will be done in the morning.

Had one just finish successfully. It was marked as "Too Late" and gets no credit, despite all wingmen getting full credit.

Have the validators been switched on? All mine are sitting in PV. [Had several that hit the 18:00:01 mark after 2 checkpoints].

And looking at _4 and the 'Too Late' marking, it's probably the sign that max errors was reached for the task. Credit is granted later [sort of 'just before removal from RS pages']

I know this is off topic and for that, I apologize, but I could not resist,

@nanoprobe - I love your signature Winston Churchill quote and wanted to share another British Prime Minister's Socialism quote ...

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 Beta Feb 24, 2016 [ Issues Thread ]

I had one error out and it was also on Linux with the "Maximum disk usage exceded" message. The 4 I had on Win 10 went to PV just fine, even with starting all 4 concurrently and suspending once with LAIM off, all while 3 other regular CEP were part way through running.

The 4 on Win10 had very different run times, 2 maxed out at 18 hours, the other two finished (skipping the last job) at 11 and 16 hours. So there seems to be a large run time difference even on the same box (which is fine, just interesting).

Yes, it's received credit now. Looking more closely, all the other tasks have exited with "Abort requested: Exiting". Mine never received the abort request and terminated at the CPU limit.

I guess this isn't uncommon. My most recent beta job received the abort message and exited with error status, while one of the other wingmen is marked as Too Late.

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 Beta Feb 24, 2016 [ Issues Thread ]

It's a long time since I ran any CEP2 tasks; I've been concentrating on other projects. Back when I did though, my machine, although slow, would do enough steps to provide useful information. But I've just been through the logs of the few betas I got and all but one of them didn't even complete the first step. Either old/slow machines need to be excluded, or the 18 hour time limit needs to be extended.

In fact, thinking about it, with so many different types of machine being around these days, I wonder if "18 hours" is the correct way to do this? Is it not possible to set a number of GFlOPS as a limit instead, and then divide it down by the capability of the machine to set a time limit when the WU is released?

I'm guessing this is not so easy to do -- just my ramblings!

I have some doubts on this error cause:
