How about a server status link?

Still no server status link anywhere that I can find? Pretty clear the system isn't accepting results again, and once again the deadline looms.

(And why the deadlines at all? Why should we care about them?)

(And if my post is associated with a frowny face, I have no idea how it got there. The preview shows it at the bottom.)

In conclusion, stuff like that is why my current setting do not favor WCG relative to other BOINC projects...

Re: How about a server status link?

The request to have a server status page has been made many times, it would be nice, but so far It has not happened. The frowny face at the bottom of the post is there to provide you a way to contact WCG if you have an objection to any content in the forums. It is not a reflection of your post.
Cheers

This is probably one of the numerous items on the WCG tech's "To Do" list - although as the system has such a good "up" time (helped by there being several projects running at once, and thus, even if 1 project runs out of work, the others generally have enough to go around), that this is seen as a very low priority issue. Personally, I would like to see new projects being worked on/launched, as well as the ones that are running, be maintained - but that's my own choice. I know the WCG techs regularly review the very long "to do" list and allocate resources (which, is finite), appropriately.

Pretty clear the system isn't accepting results again, and once again the deadline looms.
Unfortunately, you don't give us any clues as to which results/projects you're currently working on - and thus, we're simply unable to help you. If there was an overall issue with the system not accepting results, then I'm sure there'd be several threads discussing it - so, although impossible to say at this stage, the issue may be at your end. Have you rebooted your machine/router recently?, as this may clear any blockages that have emerged.

(And why the deadlines at all? Why should we care about them?)
these are there so as to allow results to be batched up and sent through to the researchers. If no deadlines, then some straggling WU's would hold up the research (which, quite often depends on results being returned in order to create new WU's).

Re: How about a server status link?

By the way I don't know any boinc project that has no deadlines.
And I suppose you struggled over the announced maintenance downtime today where indeed no returning of results was possible.

In the end only a missing server status prevents you from crunching here? Seriously?

Eric_Kaiser,

The maintenance is only on the 21st of February, is it not?

It's on the WCG wish list, but not sure if it will be implemented. For maintenance to the WCG infrastructure, there's a News section where the upcoming updates are posted.
Pretty clear the system isn't accepting results again
Please report your issue in the appropriate research forum, you'll get an answer.
And why the deadlines at all? Why should we care about them?
All projects, BOINC included, need deadlines. If not, then many non crunched WUs would not make it back to the servers (e.i. a machine dies and with it the in-progress WUs is just one of many examples).
And if my post is associated with a frowny face, I have no idea how it got there. The preview shows it at the bottom.
and not only the preview, but ALL the posts in the forum. Hover over it, and it will indicate it's purpose: "Report threatening content to Admin".
stuff like that is why my current setting do not favor WCG relative to other BOINC projects
Sad to here that, hopefully some of the suggestions here have helped and will change your mind
