What are PCG files and what does "few h back.." mean? Just a guess, but PCG was probably a typo, instead should be PNG. And "few h back" might mean few hours back. Lol, C and N are so far apart on a QWERTY keyboard, most any keyboard configuration, how does one make a typo like that, and 'h' is phonetically 'age', which is probably why memory failed ![]() |

I'll wait some time, until CA-update, but I am not very happy about it. May be you can allow unix-boinc-clients (7.2 stable version) to work with 1024-certs? You can download this file: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BOINC/boinc/master/curl/ca-bundle.crt and put it into the data directory for your client. After restarting the client you should be able to connect.

So that's the crux of the problem. You updated the certs with new CA chains on the server side before pushing out the new CAs to the clients resulting in an inability to connect.

Hi lohphat
----------------------------------------on my side, I did not have to perform any manual certificate update. Win7 as well as Linux hosts did it automatically without trouble. Cheers, Yves |

lohphat's assumption is wholly incorrect... The problem is *not* WCG's, it is as was explained Debian Jessie (Raspian Jessie too). Plz see the previous discussions and Community maintained FAQ's on this.

So that's the crux of the problem. You updated the certs with new CA chains on the server side before pushing out the new CAs to the clients resulting in an inability to connect. Quick clarification. First - here is the debian bug report if you wish to review it: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=813468 Second, we updated our certificates in July of last year: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=437 at this point our certificate chain had two paths to verification - one to a 2048 root and then cross signed to the legacy 1024 root. Full details here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,38805. For 6 months, no issue of the type you are experiencing was reported. The issue appeared when Debian removed 1024 bit roots but left in place a version of OpenSSL that had a bug in how it checked the certificate path (specifically, it only checked the full certificate chain to a trusted certificate and doesn't accept as valid a certificate chain where one of the certificates along the path is trusted). This was fixed in OpenSSL 1.02 which was released on Jan 22, 2015. https://www.openssl.org/news/cl102.txt [Edit 3 times, last edit by knreed at Feb 23, 2016 6:59:30 PM] |
