I just returned a job for FightAIDS Phase 2 and I am sure it was returned well before the Due Date. But the result I received says it was "Too Late". This despite the fact that the job requires a Minimum Quorum of 1 and 3 Replications. So far in addition to my "Too Late" response the job has received 1 Valid response, 2 Invalid responses and 1 Server Aborted response.
Normally I would not complain about a lost job, but considering the significant investment in time required by this project it would be nice to get credit for properly completed jobs. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue for this project? |

Deadlines for FAH2 are *always* 4 days, so first question is, if your copy did come back before. Copy paste the quorum detail in a reply and we can help you judge that.
----------------------------------------The description you give already indicates that the task was taken out of circulation, and your 'redundant' copy made the replication sum 5 (1 Valid, 2 Invalid, 1 Server Aborted, 1 Too Late.). When a task is taken out of circulation [5 is the max for several other projects], then the later returns are automatically marked Too Late... superfluous to requirement, or unresolvable and transported to take-out list. Then it's a case of referring to the XYZ FAQ in Start Here with respect to credit for the particular status, which says: Credit granted, just before deletion. Good chance is, you never get to see this happening, but if you keep tally of the change on My Contribution, it can be surmised. [Edit 2 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Jan 17, 2016 3:16:42 PM] |

Reads like 3 days plus some hours on my jobs. Jobs that haven't sent 70-80% of the trickles by deadline [really the soft-kill point of 72 hours] are of no scientific value, so can see why a zero trickle task is treated as No Reply before the full 4 day deadline *On The Server Side*. No point in waiting.
----------------------------------------Here's my latest, just in *On client side* FAH2_000068_avx17556_000089_0013_014_0 - (-) 0,00 0,000 21:21:02 03d,23:37:40 1/21/2016 8:53:17 AM Ready to Start Says it has 3d:23h left on deadline since receipt, and never seen anything different. Thanks for letting us know of this treatment of early cancellation when client is sending nada data. [Edit 1 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Jan 21, 2016 8:23:24 AM] |

No point in waiting. I can not believe to my eyes! For every normal BOINC project the deadline is deadline. But not for THIS PROJECT. If You think the deadline, shown in BOINC manager, is true, You may find... You are NAIVE, because You do not know, what THIS PROJECT means under deadline. An example (the task was killed 6 hours before deadline): Result Name FAH2_ 000064_ avx17375_ 000071_ 0024_ 029_ 0-- Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit No Reply 3/3/16 18:27:48 3/7/16 12:32:11 30.17 / 0.00 233.1 / 0.0 GC. The situation is never seen before (for me). I never saw such unfriendly project. [Edit 2 times, last edit by metalius at Mar 7, 2016 7:06:05 PM] |

If they, the scientists, made it 5-6-7-10 days deadline, it'd mean the total 30 or 40 interdependent jobs that constitute a sequence would be finished by the time the AIDS virus has mutated once more. What you post implies that 30 hours had passed on the clock running, but no actual computation taking place. 30.17 / 0.00 233.1 / 0.0. v.v. your other post, could it be there's something not right on your device? For every 10% progress the messages in the event log [Ctrl+Shft+E to open] show something like this

Trickle these regularly and it becomes a keep alive message. Are these being logged? P.S. My theorem calculation currently stood end of last week on it taking around 98 days to complete a 30 WU sequence and 130 for a 40 WU sequence. Things sped up though last few days. |

What you post implies that 30 hours had passed on the clock running, but no actual computation taking place... No, job was going normal and trickles were sent. My mistake was only - I attached the PC to the Internet too late - several hours before deadline (shown in BOINC manager, of course). Additional explanation - I crunch @ home on 2 PC (new with 8 cores + old with 2 cores), but with 1 GSM modem for both of them. Because I found - every task is marked Invalid, if at moment of completion the PC is not attached to the Internet, so this GSM is always attached to new PC, excluding when it is necessary to download and or upload tasks on old PC. This tactics always was effective untill I made attempt to run THIS PROJECT. My slow laptop has done 9 trickles on one job in the past 31 hours, or about one every 3.4 hours. Trickle these regularly and it becomes a keep alive message. So, Your PC was allways online? Yes? If so, my general conclusion or recommendation for participants without permanent Internet is - do not touch THIS APPLICATION, keep Your psyche unharmed. SekeRob* Thank You for reply! And I hope You find nothing personal against You in my brutal message... |

my general conclusion or recommendation for participants without permanent Internet is - do not touch THIS APPLICATION, keep Your psyche unharmed. Good advice. Wonder how many other people are withholding computation and waiting for the project to change to a more useful way of setting deadlines; at least two of us. If the situation ever changes, there might be a big upswing in computation as soon as people notice and allow this project to run. |

Good advice... 1. If to be more precise. IMO - it is highly NOT recommended to crunch FightAids@Home, Phase 2, if You are connecting Your computer to the Internet MANUALLY. 2. Thank You for "You understand me". |

Only four days until deadline and the project stopping the tasks already 12 hours before deadline (even if 90% have been finished) will force me to stop chrunching for FAAH 2. It´s really unfriendly to people, donating their computer power.
