Researched this is ongoing since October 31. The network update of Feb 21 you refer to at https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=464 hopefully does indeed do something... it's clearly per one freshly posted event log [Still] coming from the softlayer cloud.

We have fixed this issue.
The core of the issue (as SekeRob noted) was that a few of the slideshow files were referenced as this: http://bdd7.https.cdn.softlayer.net/80BDD7/gr...slideshow/cep2_03_v02.png when they should have been referenced as this https://BDD7.https.cdn.softlayer.net/80BDD7/g...slideshow/cep2_03_v02.png (note the http vs https) We have changed the references so that they all use the proper https references thus future attaches/resets will pick up the proper references. In the meantime, we have modified things so that the http connection works so that the machines that are currently stuck will work correctly. We will leave this in place for about a week and then we will remove it since it will not longer be required. |

A Linux client was already buggered testing this, now on W10, detached and tried to add WCG back... first a 199 error, then on several new attempt: "Communicating with project... Please Wait... Failed to add project... Please try again (Click Finish to close.)"
Sorry but that's now 2 clients dead. I'll try again in a week when the http escape route expires and then will note the thread as [resolved] or not when the https links work, and project can be added successfully and no more download stools occur. |

Can you provide the messages log? As that is part of either the get project configuration or the account lookup request that is something different.
----------------------------------------It would be really helpful if you enabled these options in the cc_config.xml file before retrying:

Kevin, Just before leaving for the snow, powered up into W10-Pro [the failing project-add device], selected WCG, found my name even pre-filled and WCG attached without a hitch, and funny, the 2 files as main problem makers in the topic, were downloaded together. Seems issue after at least 3 months and 18n days [RESOLVED]. Let's see if the overdue fix has impact on the https://bit.ly/WCGMACD chart. |

I have a machine that I hadn't used for a while. I've now replaced the dead power supply and tried running boinc. It's been sitting there for 3 days trying to download:
ugm1_00_v01.png, etc fahb_00_v01.png, etc oet1_00_v01.png, etc Doing a reset has not fixed this. What now? |

Eric Kaiser also reported this in the same issue, for his Android thread [no later build than 7.4.41]
