When the agent software for World Community Grid is installed, it sets the default screen saver to World Community Grid. Whenever the screen saver runs, this will show the project graphics. When users have their screen saver set to "Password protected", the user must enter his password to stop the screen saver and resume using the computer. This is usually done as an extra security measure to automatically lock up your computer while you are away, using the screen saver wait time setting.

If you uninstall the agent software, the screen saver selection is set to "None" and no screen saver will be invoked if you leave your machine for any length of time. Thus, users unaware of this may expect their machines to automatically lock up, but in fact they won't. To avoid this situation, users should reset their screen saver settings after uninstalling the agent for World Community Grid. You can find the screen saver settings by right-clicking on an empty portion of your desktop background, choosing Properties, and then clicking on the Screen Saver tab. There you can choose a screen saver from the list of those available (other than None), and set it to be Password protected with a suitable wait time. Don't forget to click on "Apply".
