PC partpicker for new WCG memebers

Hi all,

I was hoping to address some of the long running crunchers to help others who are interested in building their own crunching machines.

I recently found out about pc part picker and thought it would be a good platform to find out how to build a cheap, but powerful and maybe all the way to really good cruching machine to be devoted solely to WCG.

https://pcpartpicker.com/

Has anyone have an account and wish to share their opinion, or maybe know machines on the site that would be good?

I am thinking maybe splitting into three categories:

0 < 300$
301$ >= 800$
$800 > X

Let me know what you guys think :)

If you want to get cutting edge chips for a reasonable price, the best route is buy ES/QS chips. These are advance releases of new chips that are either engineering samples or quality assurance samples. ES is more common than QS.

You can usually get these for as little as a quarter or less what the retail price for the production models are. But you need to buy from a reliable vendor so that you can return the chips if you have problems.

Not wanting to ruin the spirit of this post, I would like to point out that there is a Hardware Chat Room forum that was recently created for HW discussion. I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses there.

Good point. I tried to report the thread so that it could be moved to the proper forum but for some reason it prefills my email address with an old one and won't let me change it.
