Hi,
----------------------------------------an idea comes to mind (from this topic: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,38425 )...make a WCG badges with logo & put the on profiles! as a good 1y or 45d of 10y member - u get badge with a color, just like profile! days, months, years are NOT calculated...but you get a badge for being on WCG for 45d... EDIT: my example, it'll be almost 9y that I'm here on WCG...so that gives me 5y D badge with WCG logo...for a 10y D badge I'd have to wait till Nov 13th 2016! Also, that badge & badge for recognition "recruited volunteers" should be either by our nickname or under our forum insignia...WCG should decide about that, but put it there to be visible! no preferences here...just a point of appreciation! wink p.s. Also, whenever someone gets a new badge, WCG sends him d mail! If it didn't crunch, then it will remind him that he/she/IT ( ) has an account on WCG...& that might get them back to WCG for crunching... p.p.s. Don't get to put "unsubscribe link" down there, so that people can unsubscribe if they don't want mails! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by KLiK at Sep 22, 2015 5:58:40 AM] |

days, months, years are NOT calculated...but you get a badge for being on WCG for 45d This is pretty much just repackaging the previously suggested idea of giving everyone a badge for completing ONE WU. The idea of a badge for just showing up is ridiculous. Not that much different than being awarded a trophy for not making your country's Olympic team I have a team member, remaining nameless, that for whatever reason decided to stop crunching over 57,000 hours ago after completing 4 days work. This member deserves a 5 Year Diamond badge for being here since 2009??? Another KLIK idea burned to the ground. Kudos for ErikaT for being nice. |

Can I have a badge for missing my badge goal....
----------------------------------------Pretty soon badges will become worthless because you will not have to do anything to get one. Login, get a badge. He's going to want a set of badges for forum posts too. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Doneske at Sep 23, 2015 9:07:24 PM] |

I like KLiK's idea on how to recruit new members. I also think it can work, but it takes some effort.

KLiK is proposing ideas to try to generate more interest in WCG and bring in more crunchers, which is a good thing. The idea of more badges in different situations is not that far off the mark: there are crunchers here that don't a hoot about the humanistic/altruistic nature of the projects... they're only interested in badges and points (not knocking them but it is a reality). And yes, not all ideas submitted will be practical or will be accepted or implemented. But at least there are ideas and suggestions being submitted.

OK, u r right! someone who is not ONLINE, or doesn't donate even 1 WU for a day here...doesn't deserve a badge of WCG insignia! so lets make a more accurate system that works, not bury d idea in it's making! let's be positive, not negative here... would a 1WU per day qualify as a minimum requirement for getting a WCG badge? or can we make some other way of "monitoring activity" on WCG? also, when those badges get implemented - a mail could be sent to all people registered about a new badge on WCG, listing their status about their badge, how to get that badge & how far are they from next badge... |
