So folks, recently I've been playing a little with media - posting invitations around news in comments, such as these:
----------------------------------------MCM invitation here - http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13630089/fl...ch-minnesota-timberwolves OET invitation here - http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2..._negative_on_patient.html etc. So every time I read a news about those diseases & there is a way to post a comment - an invitation is posted...also I've put some on FB & twitter in a few months... Result: Got 10 new inviting members, of which 2 were active & 1 became a serious cruncher! Those numbers r normal in recruitment, so expect them in d future! Conclusion 1. I think we would need some sort of media guidelines, how to promote WCG & invite people to participate...so that we don't see an invitations on some "irrelevant topics" posted... 2. Also, a way WCG has made invitation is after login immediately go to download page...that is wrong, 'cause it doesn't show them what people can do & how can they make difference on WCG & it's project... I suggest that after login people have choices page: a) manage my profile on WCG b) learn more about research c) select which research u want to donate your computer power d) download software to donate your spare cycles So, gradually get them inside of the projects & WCG...not only download, which sounds like "scam program"... Any more suggestions? ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Sep 16, 2015 11:20:25 AM] |

Sounds good. I don't read news much, but on twitter I decided to send out this:
=== If your PC or Android has idle time available for science, checkout @IBM's wcgrid.org . Software is at: www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/viewRegister.do?recruiterId=767492 === From there, people can go to the WCG homepage, and if they want software, they can also click on the other link. |

I second KLiK's proposal, but with a small change of order.
----------------------------------------a) learn more about research b) select which research u want to donate your computer power c) download software to donate your spare cycles d) manage my profile on WCG So far I haven't tried to recruit new members, but I'll make an effort using your tactic.
