Rosetta@home hogging slots, barely using cpu

Hello,

Long-time contributor, first-time poster.

A few weeks ago I decided to add another project to my BOINC alongside WCG, and I settled on rosetta@home. I was able to set it up properly but immediately noticed some oddities. First, a long list of rosetta tasks appeared in Manager, kicking WCG right off the page. Second, rosetta was barely using my cpu (see image). When WCG is running cpu usage fluctuates around 40-60%. Under rosetta it burbles at less than 20% and only uses 2/3 of my cores. I wouldn't care except this appears to be pointlessly dragging out rosetta tasks and delaying WCG tasks.
I did not adjust the computing preferences before adding rosetta@home. I've tried Googling but the hits are all about excessive cpu usage. I did look at the FAQ here but none of the linked articles are loading.

Any comments on why the underusage? I'll be removing rosetta if I can't resolve this, although I'd prefer not to since it seemed like a worthy project.

[Why not] ask at R@H?

One thing for sure, if you started a new account at R@H, the R@H device location settings took over. You can see in the event log who's device profile is being used [normally always the one at the project where they were last changed/created]. Device profile/location/venue settings apply to all projects

Re: Rosetta@home hogging slots, barely using cpu

1. maybe u should give less "Resource share" to R@h & more to WCG? That would kick up d WCG tasks...
2. also, I'd check out d config u got...maybe s north-bridge or sthg similar is a slow pipeline 4 ur computer...so it can't run only fraction of CPU...
or it's just a problem with WUs...they got finished, no mo elapsed time...though they still run...definitely ask R@h about it! wink
