I'm not sure if my result below was one of those affected by the lack of a hard stop signal, but something seems a bit wrong with this.
Result Name App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ avx101118-051_ r8_ 1_ wcgfahb00200000_ 1-- 710 Valid 02/09/15 19:06:41 03/09/15 18:27:39 4.96 94.5 / 94.5 BETA_ avx101118-051_ r8_ 1_ wcgfahb00200000_ 0-- 710 Valid 29/08/15 19:06:33 03/09/15 18:45:29 82.15 455.0 / 94.5 Mine was the bottom result, not too bothered by the low points awarded, just curious about the differences. |

What would be the specs of the machine on which that was run ? Cheers

I'm not sure if my result below was one of those affected by the lack of a hard stop signal, but something seems a bit wrong with this. Your result was too late.Result Name App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ avx101118-051_ r8_ 1_ wcgfahb00200000_ 1-- 710 Valid 02/09/15 19:06:41 03/09/15 18:27:39 4.96 94.5 / 94.5 BETA_ avx101118-051_ r8_ 1_ wcgfahb00200000_ 0-- 710 Valid 29/08/15 19:06:33 03/09/15 18:45:29 82.15 455.0 / 94.5 Mine was the bottom result, not too bothered by the low points awarded, just curious about the differences. Where it was due time for your result (4 days) a resend was sent to a wingman. That wingman returned 2 trickles and since your result came in for 100%, the wingman's task got a hard stop signal, granted for his 20% and you got that 20% too. However, the return time of your wingman's task should be after your return time, but maybe it was the return time of the 2nd trickle. I suppose WCG have to think about that 80% not honored. That system is a bit of an oddball. It's a 12 core HP server (24 with HT on) using intel L5639 processors which I got cheap in an auction on e-bay. It replaced another that I also got at well under the going rate which I sold on to someone I know. What can I say I like to try a cheeky bid in an auction sometimes.
It is used as a file server and runs FreeNas, but I couldn't find a way to get Boinc to run on Freenas (I know nothing about FreeBSD O/S!). So I took the lazy route of setting up a Ubuntu VM within Freenas and setting up BOINC in that. I have to set the execution cap at around 90% and leave one HT core unused because it starts throwing the toys out the pram if it feels it's being worked too hard. Providing you don't make the mistake of trying to max out the VM it's actually surprisingly stable and never throws any invalid results. It's not the fastest thing out there, but it just sits in a corner looking after the files and backups and crunches WU's in it's spare time. |

Crystal Pellet is correct, your machine was affected by the hard stops not working properly. In a normal scenario, your computer would have been told to stop where it was at. So say 60% of the way done. A second copy would never have been sent out to another person. Thus eliminating the 80% that appears to be wasted in this case. I am sorry this was the case for you, the hard stop routine should have been fixed about 2 days ago, I am monitoring it for anything strange. Thanks for the feedback! -Uplinger |

No probs, hopefully there'll be another larger round of betas to check everything has been ironed out.*
* /me Declares self-interest since 3 more beta units like the last ones would get me an emerald badge. |

Since this is a public secret can somebody remind me roughly where the fetch_on_update line goes please? Don't tell me you've not bookmarked the cc_config.xml wiki yet after all this time of BOINCing? |

I finally got to see the results status page showing the in-progress with trickle-down results.
----------------------------------------I did see my cpu time as of the last trickle-down update, but the elapsed time was zero. BETA_ avx101118-024_ r3_ 1_ wcgfahb00300000_ 0-- | the_vault | In Progress | 9/4/15 | 01:48:00 | 9/8/15 | 01:48:00 | 10.12 / 0.00 | 116.6 / 0.0 Cheers |

Don't tell me you've not bookmarked the cc_config.xml wiki yet after all this time of BOINCing? turns out I was putting the line in the right file for some reason this is not working. I will run with minimal cache. |
