Bjoerner,
----------------------------------------I had this message (SSL connect error) y'day for 5-6 times (around 9pm CEST) and then it started working normally w/o any action on my side. I was able to upload and download WUs but not report them like you. Since then it is working normally. I start the portable BOINC with boincmgr.exe not BOINCPortable.exe. ![]() |

Bjoerner, I had this message (SSL connect error) y'day for 5-6 times (around 9pm CEST) and then it started working normally w/o any action on my side. I was able to upload and download WUs but not report them like you. Since then it is working normally. I had the old DLLs active for the upload. I assume you have the ones of 7.2.47 as you described it a couple of posts ago. The 7.2.47 DLLs would be worth a shot, but I can't seem to get my hands on it, at least not while I'm at work with no chance of installing anything anywhere and copying them. I start the portable BOINC with boincmgr.exe not BOINCPortable.exe. I started the boincmgr.exe but it requires me to attach to projects again (with the new DLLs). I tested it and as expected had SSL errors as well. |

When you start BOINC what version of OpenSSL you have in event log? (approx. third row) It should be 1.0.1 if you copied new dlls (or maybe higher with your version 7.4.42)

Since it cannot connect to localhost with the new dlls, I have no answer for that.
With the old versions it shows: Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 |

I had the same problem connecting to localhost when started with BOINCPortable.exe. That is why I use boincmgr.exe. I had it from the start so it has nothing to do with "new" dlls (at least on my side).
----------------------------------------0.9.8 is SSL that was "banned". Only SSL 1.0.1 and higher works now. ![]() |

Anything <0.98o has had -SERIOUS- security issues for longer [maybe not for WCG specifically], so WCG stepping up and taking the bull by the horns is prudent, being that I would have first donned the appropriate attire before doing so, not the red suite and the yellow muleta ;P.
----------------------------------------(Myth busting: There is a myth that "seeing red" causes bulls to charge either because it is offensive to them, or because it is the âonlyâ color they can see. In reality, bulls (like all cattle), are colorblind. So to answer your question: no, the color red is not important to bulls at all. :))))))) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 23, 2015 4:15:34 PM] |

Anything <0.98o has had -SERIOUS- security issues for longer [maybe not for WCG specifically], so WCG stepping up and taking the bull by the horns is prudent Why would you think that? There's no need for our WCG comms to be encrypted at all. It's very much like saying it's prudent to electrify your back fence and put an unbreakable padlock on it, when your yard contains nothing but grass. You're protecting yourself from the infinitesimal chance that someone will try to steal your lawn, at the expense of significant inconvenience. |
