One day a greater than 5.10.45 version can be run on DC controllers [did you boot after the bundle update?], and that seems to have come, at least the check-in notes say the DC restriction was removed. Don't know which client version will have it though. It might already be in 7.6.3. I've installed 7.6.3 on one DC and it works. Did NOT work as service install. Thanks ![]() "Patience is a virtue", I can't wait to learn it! |

That's what the check-in note said, to remove the service option. In effect, you're required to sign someone in to run BOINC on a DC. The key has been these creations of boinc manager limited rights accounts to run as service. That was/is not allowed.

Does the BOINC client have its own communication facilities that are outside of the OS or are there dependencies on the OS for some or all of the SSL functionality.
I wish there was a way to allow for non-SSL communication to get around this issue. With all of the CA's moving away from the use of SHA-1, older OS's are going to have issues. At the end of the day, these older machines are a minority in terms of contribution, but they are still contributors. Could WCG allow non-SSL communication through an edit to the config file? I moved two of the machine I had to Rosetta since they currently cannot contribute to here. I was able to report one WU completed on each machine but each machine still has an upload that it cannot complete and thus report. So two MCM1's are waiting to be uploaded. |

Anyone seeing any issues with 6.10 on mac or windows? My Mac running BOINC 7.0.31 had this issue. I upgraded to BOINC 7.4.42 and all is well. |

Is there a way to "bypass" this? I have a lot OET WUs waiting to upload (some with tomorrow deadline). It is on work comp so I have no admin privileges. (I use portable BOINC 6.10.18 on Win7)

----------------------------------------OpenSSL is baked into the code, with the version used always printed near the start in the event log. As we now know, 0.98g no longer flies. On BOINC portable, cannot find any newer than 6.10.18. Some recent post on it at the Berkeley forum: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=10055#60485 @Techs, think it's time you update the minimum client version statement in help, which [still] says 5.4. Found 2 files in BOINC program dir that contain openssl statements:
----------------------------------------ssleay32.dll (Openssl 1.01) libeay32.dll (Openssl 1.01.0) Since the client is compiled with dependencies, doubt substituting these files leads to these from a v7. client results in a working state. If you can upgrade the client, you can do this and still salvage any tasks to upload/report. Done this many times and never lost any work... making sure the data_dir location pointers remain the same.
