There are only 2 problem with updating for me. First I think it is not possible to update Portable version with normal one. And second I don't have administrative privileges on computer so even if it was possible I have no way to do it. :(
----------------------------------------Is there any chance to copy some files/folders to a computer with suitable Boinc version just to be able to upload completed WUs? ![]() |

Once upon a time I did this, copied the data_dir+all subs over to another working BOINC computer, set the host computer to not fetch work. The result files were uploaded, the tasks reported. Any in progress lost [after all the server-client handshake determines the work was not originally assigned to that computer, so ideally abort any in progress/ready to start work before doing this]. The tasks would show up under the host computer name.
----------------------------------------Absolutely zero guarantee, so don't look at me [rhymon simon] Edit: To add, strongly recommend to not do this on a different platform... e.g. if on Windows, then use another working Windows computer as host. Easier said than done when I went from 5.10 to 7.6. 5.10 didn't have a dedicated data_dir. I did get the WU's that wanted to report to report, but the uploads were a no go.

Is there a way to "bypass" this? I have a lot OET WUs waiting to upload (some with tomorrow deadline). It is on work comp so I have no admin privileges. (I use portable BOINC 6.10.18 on Win7) The following site claims to have an updated (6.10.60) version of portable Boinc. Be careful though, as when I tried to download it my Avast Free flagged it as containing suspicious content. 'A threat has been detected'... I'd break that link immediately, ditch it... it's trying some json code injection. The third test the download link got blocked altogether.

For the record, this message from the log files indicates the issue:

Sekerob,
----------------------------------------it worked. I was able to upload and report finished WUs. Thanks. I did clean install of new Boinc 7.2.47 (on Win7 as was on original comp). Copied projects directory from Portable version to one created by clean instalation (data dir of Boinc). Also copied all .xml files. (w/o them no work shoved in manager) Hope that helps others. Now it is only one problem. How to use those 12 cores :) ![]() |

Hope you'll get it fixed. Nearly 50 WUs are waiting for upload on this (single) RHEL 6.6 machine. As I'm not really familiar with this OS I was happy that I got it running with Boinc 6.10.58 . Never was successful with a version 7.x
