Re: Security advisories thread: Those that may interest you.

There's an issue with the uefi BIOS chip on unspecified Lenovo systems (the one lauded by MS to be able to securely boot), and what one security expert describes as a [potentially] backdoor by design. Levono plays it down: https://support.lenovo.com/it/en/solutions/LEN-8324 and since this is software supplied by a 3rd party could involve other brand products as well.
A line like "Importantly, because Lenovo did not develop the vulnerable SMM code and is still in the process of determining the identity of the original author, it does not know its originally intended purpose." is most worrisome.

Google's adsense is now proofing to be a malware transporter: http://www.neowin.net/news/android-malware-sp...h-googles-adsense-network

Last week decided and did add all the frequent google url trackers to my router firewall and can't say I'm noticing. WCG website is faster than ever... they too have hooks into the google analytics system. devilish

Another reason FF and NoScrypt are a must.

Could be in a separate 'Security Tools Personal Files Recovery' thread maybe, TBA, but just in case you fall victim to ransomware, here are a few, seemingly working too on the open-house (MS taking all they want) Windows 10: http://betanews.com/2016/08/21/restore-access...nsomware-screen-unlocker/

A few days ago stumbled on (what I thought was) a funny discussion of Kaspersky and it's proximity to the Kremlin (IP Geo-location puts them smack in the middle ;))), and here we are, an alert on multiple vulnerabilities in their very product: http://blog.talosintel.com/2016/08/vulnerability-spotlight-multiple-dos.html
