Perhaps if you rent space for your computers in a server hall, it would be easier to prove you only used the electricity for WCG. Somebody working there could verify this if only they have access to the computers, online and offline.
All this is hinging on whether the tax authorities will accept the deductions even though WCG is not a registered charity. |

SETi@home on which I use GPUs...& SETi@home is studied by Croatian astronomers! Just have to raise a power wattage on those system 2 sthg like 200Wh...after all, those cards are "power-hungry"! |

a few quotes taken from the WCG website:
As a volunteer, your device downloads a small research assignment from World Community Grid when it has spare capacity to do more work, like when you're checking your email, reading a document or taking a break Show us any country which allows you to evade paying taxes for donating anything under the heading of 'spare'. World Community Grid enables anyone with a computer, smartphone or tablet to donate their unused computing power to advance cutting-edge scientific research on topics related to health, poverty and sustainability or the term 'unused'. Even if you could to prove a value, the WCG website kills your proposal. Started in 2004, World Community Grid is a philanthropic initiative of IBM Corporate Citizenship, the corporate social responsibility and philanthropy division of IBM. Through Corporate Citizenship, IBM donates its technology and talent to address some of the world's most pressing social and environmental issues As you can see. WCG is a division of one of the largest, profitable companies in the world. It is not a charity. It is not going to become a charity because you want it to, because many, experienced, knowledgeable, talented, trained tax experts have advised IBM that it is either not to its benefit to do so, or illegal to do so. IBM is going to listen to these people about US tax laws rather than a couple of part-time volunteers. You are trying to dictate policy again and that isn't going to get you anywhere. Not going to happen. No way. Out of ideas. Ship has sailed. Dead in the water. Submerged. Like a dead mackerel AND a beached whale. End of the Line. It's toast. Finito. Done like dinner. Out of gas. |

Out of gas. spare - 1st of all, spare power has gone 2 past, when throttling of CPU speed & voltage was introduced in desktop computers...u might not know that, 'cause u r just not so into computers! well, let me educate u a little: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_frequency_scaling https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpeedStep https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Turbo_Boost unused - if sthg is unused, it doesn't mean that is cost-less...it's still a donation, so it cost some amount of money! example: 1. I have a money which is unused, so I donate it to some charity or non-profit org...a money still have a value, used or not used! 2. I have a van or a car, which I don't want to use anymore...so it's unused & I decide to donate it to some charity or non-profit org...that also doesn't mean that car or van hasn't got any value...so taxman would still need a 5% of transfer tax for that kind of donation, 'cause it has a value! even 4 a donation, yes! about ur facts: - IBM is not 1 of the largest companies in d World...especially after laying off lots of people in last decade! (check ur facts in news) - & it's not profitable so much (like be4), also: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=IBM https://www.google.com/finance?cid=18241 also look here: http://www.ibm.com/annualreport/ btw, it's not illegal 2 ask 4 a donated time, money, some compensation of time...so sthg similar is developing on SETi@home, also on my initiative... but hey, no problem...IBM is a slow machine & big corp...so I don't expect a result next day! it will come... & i never tried anything to dictate anything to any1...just have so much ideas, how 2 make sthg better...how 2 make a World a better place! & be positive contribution 2 d World! but I'm amazed how much "negative phrases" u know...good 4 u about that nonsense knowledge...WoW! u must be a really depressed person! how sad! unlike u, I'm happy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRMOMjCoR58 |
