Hi there.
I am going to upgrade to windows 7 64 bit. what do I have to do to get FAH to run in 64 bit mode instead of 32 bit? Thanks. |

Nothing. If there is a 64 bit build, the servers will know to sent that to a 64 bit OS.

Do you know if FAH has a 64 bit program or is it only 32 bit?
Thanks. |

Yes it does have a 64 bit app version.
----------------------------------------On Linux 64-bit it is around 50-60 % (something like that) faster than on W7 64-bit. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Seoul,
----------------------------------------Currently my AIDS tasks finish under 40 minutes on my AMD A8-6500 3.5 GHZ under Linux 64-bit. But with W7 64-bit, they took 30-40 minutes more. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

I don't doubt that Linux is faster here, but I have three machines running FAAH as a mix of work on Win7 64-bit, being an Ivy Bridge (i5-3550) and two Haswells (i7-4771 and i7-4790). The VINA work unit have been taking from 30 to 45 minutes, with most (or all) of the cores active on each machine.

SekeRob was the one who found that Linux is faster with the Vina Sciences. He had a thread in the SN2S forums I think... Its time and again confirmed that AD VINA is about 60 percent faster on Linux AND OS-X which is also nix based, not just me. Last time confirmed for OET1. Those having incredulance, follow prevouis discussions.
BTW, which have a 64 bit app can find this info on the Min.Req. help page ;) |
