Hi so i am new to this and im already donating cpu usage on a unused computer and i was wondering if points can be used for anything. Thanks! About a year ago WCG was cooperating with a project called Computing for Good (CfG) which was run by Ripple Labs. That is a fintech company that created a cryptocurrency called XRP. For about 5 or 6 months, CfG was giving away a certain amount of XRP each day to people who were doing work for WCG. But as I said, that project ended about a year ago. Maybe that's what you were thinking of. At the moment, the points awarded for doing work on WCG don't generate any material rewards of any kind. They do allow you to be recognized for your contribution in the form of project badges however - the little icons you see as avatars for people. If you mouse over them, you can see which ones are awarded for which projects. But essentially, the points aren't much more than place markers showing the level of your contribution.   |
