Re: Help Fight Childhood Cancer project update - January 2015

Great news and let's hold the kludge-peddle down and put the stickshift in the R of Racing for take-off:
Phase 1 of HFCC targeted neuroblastoma, and we are now developing a Phase 2 that will target many more childhood cancers. This future work will include a new team from Hong Kong University led by Dr. Godfrey C.F. Chan, a pediatric oncologist. We hope to bring the next phase of this project to World Community Grid soon.

Could be one of the projects that could not be mentioned in the uplinger news update wink

Thank you Erika for sharing this update. Cannot wait to start contributing to the second phase of the project. I joined too late to help phase 1 so want to make up for it with this second one!!

Thanks to the researchers and to WCG for the update. This is the kind of feedback which is always appreciated. Even if the steps are slow and the lab work is laborious and tedious, it is gratifying to see the efforts of our crunching bearing some fruit for the researchers.
Cheers

Re: Help Fight Childhood Cancer project update - January 2015

I couldn't agree more with your sentiments Sgt. Joe - it's so easy for projects that have already been completed, to get forgotten about, where, despite prompting, no feedback from the scientists ever materialise, so to have HFCC come back and provide an update on a fairly regular basis, is certainly refreshing. This is doubly so, with the news that a Phase 2 is in the works.

Re: Help Fight Childhood Cancer project update - January 2015

This is absolutely excellent news for a number of reasons...
World Community Grid results have revealed even more potential treatment mechanisms than the team previously thought, and paved the way for a second phase of the project.
This is REALLY good news !!!

YOO HOO !!! More WUs to crunch !!!
