Thanks for the well wishing. How close... this close:

10:000:20:47:53

With 5 still in PV.

Had a big scare before going to bed, [don't do exactness requiring things before closing the lids, being half shut eye already]. Aborted 40 on the Linux [fast platform], selected and OKd, but nothing happened in the BOINCTasks screen where they normally turn to have a red background after committing, so picked 40 again I calculated as being in excess. Again nothing happened, so scrolled down, to find 80 aborted at the bottom, ready to report [Had the status sorted alpha, so user aborted goes to bottom, off screen]. Fortunately this was the first device doing a return to sender and not the last, so amended the number on the other comps... instant perspiration, cold sweats, what not [that bad laughing]. Restlessly woke up at 4 to check it was done, the query tally adding up to a close shave [As the run-times varied quite a bit with the last work]. On hundreds of tasks, 10 minutes longer or shorter added up to getting there or not. whistling

To those suggesting buying very cheap phones to Crunch with them, are you sure it is worth it?

I own a phone CPU is MTK 6589, 1,2Ghz, 4 cores. Bought end of 2013. To crunch 1 OET, I need more than 24 hours. 4 cores so I can send back 4 results every 26, 27, 30 hours, depending on how I use my phone.

Less than 4 results per day is very low, but hundreds of thousands of people sending back 4 results per day, well you can say it is still ok. But your very low budget phones, how many times do they calculate 1 task?

Because your phone is using electricity and it is not free, you have to pay for it and someone has to create it. Very soon I will buy a new phone, 8 cores, 64bits, MTK 6752 I think, ~200€. Chinese phones, bought from a importer.

So what is best? A very low budget which calculate 1 task in x hours/days or a brand new chinese phone, which are not low quality, they run very fast, have complete options, gps/glonass/beidu, nfc, 4G, 1080p, gorilla glass, 64bit cores, very good photo/video, very good quality of the screen with wide angles, dual sim, you can add a sim card, 2 or 3GB Ram. Not a known brand like Samsung or others ones, just chinese brand and of course much lower price.

So a low budget phone or a 2015 chinese phone 8 cores 64bits, very powerful?

We would need some calculating charts.

- phone brand X and CPU A calculates 1 task in x hours
- phone brand Y and CPU B calculates 1 task in x minutes
- phone brand Z and CPU C calculates 1 task in x seconds (well maybe not seconds ;)

I use:
http://www.tinydeal.com/de/mlais-m52-red-note...e-flip-case-p-147715.html

About 130euros with free shipping and a free case (according to that online store right now). Prices vary on currency differences.
8 core, andoid 5.0. Ok for crunching. For everyday "phone" use not the software is not 100% perfect yet. Waiting for the next Lollipop-patch. But as I say: For crunching... I only can recommend.

AnTuTu-Bench somewhat equal to Samsung Gal. S5 and above the Nexus 5.
Check Youtube for reviews.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSOjYh7XtXU
(the review is a couple of months old... my devices came 5.0 out of box but no extra covers. You can skip straight to conclusion at minute 22.) I think, GizChina.De has a better review but it's in german. I also saw there are spanish and italian reviews around... your choice what you want to listen to.

If you can afford a bit more expensive phone, look out for the Model called M7 from the same brand. Newer phone, same processor MTK6752 but it comes with 3GB of RAM instead of 2GB on the linked phone above.

Now... what you need to know is that even the MTK6752 takes quite long for OET. Obviously, even with increasing numbers of cores, those CPUs are still engineered to work under ultra low power.

Here are 3 crunched OET units:
OET1_ 0000963_ xZAGP-S_ rig_ 41375_ 3-- android_
Valid 20.06.15 07:45:37 21.06.15 19:27:36 5.05 / 5.95 43.4 / 40.5
OET1_ 0000971_ xEBGP-FA_ rig_ 47314_ 1-- android_
Valid 20.06.15 15:49:46 21.06.15 14:07:32 12.69 / 13.97 135.7 / 125.4
OET1_ 0000962_ xZAGP-S_ rig_ 9333_ 3-- android_
Valid 18.06.15 10:47:49 20.06.15 01:37:56 4.02 / 4.21 9.2 / 22.2
As you can see, crunching times vary between 4hrs and 12+ hours depending on the crunching units.

Don't expect any "wonders" if you want to go with a knockoff discount phone from a small chineese brand. There WILL be a performance difference between the 130euros phone I listed here, and the kind of a Galaxy S6 that usually goes for 700 to 800 euros. But usually way not worth paying the premium (in terms of crunching! All other use of the smartphone, this might be different, depending on your taste and priorities)

In the end... still way cheaper than running a dedicated server rack. :D I can't afford playing IBM here. :D

Btw: Evolution within smartphones goes VERY fast. Mediatek is working on a 10-core already.

The only thing that I find a bit sad is the limited choice of projects that work on ARM 64. And... Android is evolving a bit too fast. Android 6 will be launched this fall... this makes life hard on boinc-developpers having to adapt the client-software to a "new" system every "couple of months". :/

Oh wow! How sick to your stomach would you be if you came up short after aborting 80 WUs? You definitely would have had all fishing poles in the water trying to catch any resends!

I'm really glad you made your milestone!
