Does the app install a search application also?

I find it quite a coincidence that after installing BOINC or WCG that I add another Ad Search\Toolpar application with the same install date in my Add\Remove programs list. Did this come from the World Community Grid installer?

Never happened before and extremely unlikely to have happened in your case.

Where did you dwonload BOINC or WCG version of BOINC from?

Hi, welcome to WCG.

If you got the BOINC package from the official download page at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do then you got an absolutely clean, security audited and signed client, no add-on sneakware.

Regrettably many 'free' software packages such as Avast and Adobe Reader come with this type 'browser enhancement'. It really requires an effort these days to not get their nuisances not installed. If you see anything you don't like, uninstall it first. If you make restore points prior to installing new software, go back to the last known clean state and install BOINC again.
