Is there any chance the WCG techs could add code to let a cruncher select which Aids app to run? Would like to be able to get equal amounts of each app instead of 10/1 faah/FAVH. I asked the same question on the BOINC message boards and they said it should be an easy add to the back end code. Please, I'm begging.

I too would like that, but I know it has been asked before and I don't see it happening. Cheers

Trouble is not adding a sub-app option which is on the ToDo list also to get only FAHV to run on Linux where it's much faster then under Windows, it's the Autodock / AD VINA experiment balance is not equally divided between FAAH and FAHV. Sometimes one has more than the other, sometimes there's not even one or the other. If it's so easy to get equal shares, maybe Dr. Anderson could talk to the WCG technicians directly. In all the years it's never been resolved.

Nano,
You are kind of asking two different questions. 1. Selection between what application to run within FightAIDS@Home. 2. Setting the levels between to applications so they get 5 results from each one. Answers: 1. This is on my todo list. We are looking at how to properly allow this within the device profile page. Since this would be a more advanced option, we want it to be set within there since a majority of our users don't dig that deep into it. 2. The weights of the projects 10/1 for example are set on the server side. We have to do things like set it to run fahv at a lower weight because we can't build new work units fast enough to supply the demand. This way the application does not run out of work, which keeps the feeder happier instead of doing hard searches for a result to send. By implementing option 1, it allows members to choose what they want, as Sek commented, where Windows runs faster than Linux or vice versa. Thanks, -Uplinger |

For me and probably many others who would like this option it would make it easier to run the VINA units on Linux and the other on Windoze.

...but FightAIDS@home is almost finished... uh... You mean that compared to the 9 years that FAAH has been running, it currently appears to have aprox. one year left to be finished? (if the scientists don't find other combinations that need to be tested) CJSL Crunching for a brighter future... |

Sgt.Joe, thanks for the link... yeah, I know about that thread. My original post was questioning the "almost finished" comment since there are 2 sources (here & here) that indicate that there are still a few WUs to be crunched... close to a year's worth. Also, when OET comes online, that will steal some attention, so that could give the FAAH project some additional breathing room.

Dr Santiago spoke of few more months and intermittency, where of course the BEDAM version for FA@H is under development. The 90% on the research summary page gives a pure extrapolatory indication this last section is expected to take about a year. Subject to change without notice.
