Re: Tablet Temperatures

Qualcomm Snapdragon 600. - r1p0 28nm, GPU renderer Adreno (TM) 320 @ 400mhz.

You can actually see that core 2-3 are mostly stopped in CPU-Z. The tablet acts also as media player feeding a bluetooth set of speakers on the desk.

Running 2 cores mostly because this gives pretty much 95-100% valid, where 3-4 cores increases the rate exponentially. Take the CPU throttling also into account, turned around valid work is next to equal as running 4 cores... Just not interested in generating runtime for the sake of runtime.

Edit: Screensize, 7 inch and sitting in a protective padded Hama portafolder, leaning against a stand. Probably would run a little less warm without but it seems the cooling is predominantly through the display glass, left full side edge area... the power button side. The back has never felt anything warm.

Re: Tablet Temperatures

The temps hover at around 65 celsius using the 4 cores.
Using 3 cores, the temps are right now at 57 celsius.

I have my screen set to go blank after 2 minutes so it can save a little bit of power (I hope) since I can't turn the screen off without turning off the tablet.

Re: Tablet Temperatures

I think 50-55C is OK for a tablet. I'm guessing your tablet has a higher CPU temperature in part because it's 8" while enels' is 10". This size related constriction on the thermal envelope is even more apparent in SekeRob's 7" tablet.

How much faster does UGM run on 3 cores compared to 4 cores? Have you checked the frequencies?

Re: Tablet Temperatures

The cores are running at 1866 mhz. According to HWmonitor, they max they have reached is 2.2 Ghz.

I don't remember how much faster tasks run with 3 vs 4 cores. According to task manager, they are getting 33% of the CPU each.
