memory problems

with batch 04080 my linux vm with 0.5g memory and 0.5g of swap is insufficient to run 2x ugm tasks.

every few seconds are tasks restarting when memory and paging space is full

was there a change in wus or only this batch is affected?

..i must abort all tasks in queue... :(

Re: memory problems

Noticed two things, they run longer and got log entries like these

12/10/2014 8:56:57 AM Message from server: Uncovering Genome Mysteries needs 3.81MB more disk space. You currently have 496.19 MB available and it needs 500.00 MB. This is exactly as per the System requirement page, at work call 500MB must be freely available.

The allowed disk space was 2GB, that what was running apparently using a bunch of that for the models, so increased only a tad to keep the CEP2 out that otherwise slip in via the "If there is no work for" route. OTOH, BOINCTasks does not indicate extraneous memory use, have RAM peaks of 35MB and VM of 68. My queue is past 4080, now doing 4217. My history showing skipping from 4077 to 4082, all with normal usages.

Re: memory problems

Please eyeball any returned wingmen on these results, in case they succeed. If failing too, likely they grow bigger than the memory limits specified for the tasks, if not, it's your device limits, hardware or config. IAC, suppose your result log and events gave the more exacting reason, or?

Just fyi, I did check up on these. Of the five listed, so far three are fully completed (two validated copies) and the other two workunits have one successful copy returned and are awaiting validation from another copy.

Re: memory problems

yes, i saw, that other clients were fine.

i just mentioned, that these tasks had bigger memory consuming as other. and because of my limits 0.5g ram/ 0.5g paging i cannot finish them

99,9% of contributors had own pcs or servers with no limits - so their tasks went fine ;)
