I got to wondering if one of the reasons that drug companies/scientists do not make more use of us is the fact that all results have to be made public.
Does this mean that there could be other projects out there but because the results cannot be patented then they do not bother giving us work. Is it better to have a few cheap drugs for 'selected' illnesses, or many drugs for more cures but these make profits for drug companies. How many more die than need to in each of the two scenarios? No offense to drug companies, but yes, that is a possibility. I've seen corporations do more than that for less. Unfortunately, for big corporations, the magic word is "shock holder". Stock holders trump all and companies will do anything to keep them happy (and Wall Street also). I vote for cheap drugs for many serious illnesses (but that's not one of Scribe's options) :DCJSL Crunching for a better world... |

That's why we have the AFM-Theleton this w-e in France to develop research for neglected diseases as muscular distrophy that are neglected by Big Pharma. Some results now as the cartography of human genome is used by public research and therapeutic tests are launched. But Big Pharma want direct huge returns on invesment ,not on long time and for large(or rich ) populations (i.e customers)
