Alan, sad news. It's an event we all face eventually in some form. Regretfully, no one has ever had a guarantee that life would be fair. How we deal with what life does bring our way is what gives it meaning. Courage is not the absence of fear but an acknowledgement of it and then doing what needs to be done anyway. We all hope we would have the same courage you have but that remains an unanswered question until we must face our own final battle. I salute you. You are a better man than I.

I am NOT ready to say good-bye yet.
![]() "... at least a year ..." The consultant did not say "at most". That could mean years (plural). The doctors may stumble on a treatment for IPF (probably something that is now used on some other ailment) that may buy you some more quality time. The trick is to plan for the future without dwelling on the downside. You know... hope for the best - cope with the rest. {{{Scribbles}}} |

Had to call the Respiratory Nurses out on Xmas Eve. I was struggling on 15 lpm of Oxygen. She came around and basically said that I was in the final countdown. It is not possible to go higher than 15 at home, the only place for higher is hospital/hospice. She prescribed morphine which has been a tremendous help. It does nothing to 'cure' or 'prevent' but boy does it help me manage. I have not felt as good for ages.....but........this is one further step on the downward spiral. I will gradually become less and less able to manage on 15 and that will mean I will ask to go into hospital for 24 hour care. So at some stage I will suddenly stop posting on here.
Currently I have 14-18 cores crunching away. These will eventually tail off, I could have 4 to 8 still intermittently returning results for years to come, so will hopefully be still here long after I have gone...... ![]() ![]() |
