Thread: Change of Team Captaincy at Vulture Central III |

I wonder if we could get one of the admin types to change the Captian name for us. Gonna stick this in elsewhere and see if we can get a response from Admin staff! retsof, would you object to being Team Captain, you are the most active and informed of us all. Could any of the admin/moderator staff tell us if it is possible to change team Captain? Our team Captain, ghunt, created Team Vulture Central III, posted one set of results and has never been seen nor heard of since. The more active members of the team would like to nominate retsof as Captain but unless ghunt reappears and resigns we can't do it normally. Thanks for your time. Normally this sort of thing has to be arranged with the Team Captain. I think [I am uncertain] that the way it is done is:
1) Team Captain resigns. 2) Somebody else picks up the empty captaincy. 3) Former Team Captain rejoins the team as a normal cruncher. Anybody with more knowledge want to add a comment or correct any mistakes I made? mycrofth |

I had the same problem with Vulture Central II at that other place. The captain isn't retired, but is long gone and does not answer e-mails.

Then I suggest electing a Team Manager. This elective position title can be put in the Forum Profile address field or in the sig. And no absent Captain can interfere with it.

Current voting position is 4 members (retsof, EvoDude, fingerle and hogeymuir) all vote for retsof, who has shown a willingness to serve. There are no other nominations at present. This is already close to being 50 % of active team membership. Could any other members of our team reading this post state their preferences here. Should we start a thread here and in DCZone specifically for it so all members in both forums can express their opinions. I would be willing to get this going for Vulture Central III and, as existing Captain of Vulture IV, I can resign immediately allowing retsof to step straight in. Unfortunately as I am not involved in Vulture Central II at grid.org this is probably outwith my scope of responsibility. |

I would be willing to get this going for Vulture Central III and, as existing Captain of Vulture IV, I can resign immediately allowing retsof to step straight in. Don't you want to hold on to IV? You've active and you started it over there. My 10c worth (dimes).

As I explained elsewhere (doesn't it get ridiculous we can't mention the names of other places) I have a strict DL limit due to my geographical location, and have had to stop my participation in Vulture Central IV so it would be contradictory to our aims here for me to expect to carry on as team captain! I am looking at the financial cost of removing my dl limit but as yet no response has been forthcoming from my ISP. I hope anyone considering going with Wanadoo, in the UK, will take note of this!

I've done a bit of research for the Team Manager 'elective post' we are being encouraged to create. In order to elect a Manager we need to look at the numbers involved and what constitutes a majority vote. Members input to this forum/team is as follows:-

As we have no way to communicate, other than in the two active forums, this post should be the Notice of Election. If after 7 days, no other member has posted his intention to stand for the position, we should consider retsof to be elected. It is my intention to place a copy of this post in DCZone's Team Vulture III thread. This situation has highlighted the fact that WCG should address the problem of inactive Team Captains. The current situation could result in teams being forced to run with departed/deceased Captains who are very unlikely to return and resign the post. Dimes has been a bit screwy the last couple of days. Wait until it's running well before we take action over there. The site was up this morning, but the files were still backing out. Nothing worked yesterday, even the site.
