Have you thought about running UGM1 as non-cpu intensive?

According to BoincTasks it uses .003% CPU. This WAY a whole CPU is not reserved for UGM1 and another project could use the CPU time left. SEE THE wuPROP@hOME PROJECT. Also when one wu finishes, ANOTHER one is started immediately. no scheduling against other projects.

I do not know where you get the .003% figure, but you are certainly misreading something. As far as I know, you can only run 1 workunit on one core, unless the core is hyperthreaded. Anytime a WU is running on a core it uses 100% of that core or thread (if hyperthreaded.) Show us a picture of where you get that figure please.
Cheers

According to Windows Task Manager all my cores are at 100% on ugm1.

Not entirely true, but that is the goal. Some applications that are not well optimized might lag behind in performance relative to the CPU's capacity, or they might get bogged down by low memory, high disk usage, etc. though that sounds pretty low even for a task being starved of resources. I would check your CPU usage with another task, if it runs consistently low like that it may have hung up or have some kind of error.

Something with your BoincTasks or your CPU. From BoincTasks history:

Re: Have you thought about running UGM1 as non-cpu intensive?

I can confirm both Task Manager on Win and Activity Monitor on Mac show 100% of CPU thread per WU.

Cheers and good luck

True, but my point(which may not have been well expressed) was the cpu will be at or nearly at 100%. See Crystal Pellet's post. Thanks for the clarification.
Cheers

Re: Have you thought about running UGM1 as non-cpu intensive?

I have given a Url address to a picture of what I see on Bionctasks.
http://screencast.com/t/iQSM5pC6mRsg
As you can see the wall clock elapse time is 1d,00:58:49, the CPU time used is 00:00:03 ( 3 secs), and the CPU percentage is .003. If the WUs are going to continue this way, then NON-CPU intensive should be used as this will allow more Wus to be run as they don't have to compete with CPU intensive projects for downloading and initiation. When one WU completes another one is immediately downloaded and initiated bypassing all competition.

Re: Have you thought about running UGM1 as non-cpu intensive?

You may have a workunit that is not properly working. The average runtime for a result on UGM1 is about 3 hours. Yours may be stuck on some calculation or parsing of the input file. Can you please provide the work unit you are seeing this on?

Thanks,
-Uplinger
