Re: New BETA test - Oct 6, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

"Unable to open checkpoint file starting from 0"
That seems to be normal behaviour for this project. It occurs at the start of processing every workunit, at which stage no checkpoint file exists. I assume it could occur at other times, too, like when a restart happens before the first checkpoint.

I agree that the wording gives the impression of an error, though.

If this is what it's meant to do, a simple comma to break the sentence would tell us in some comprehensible manner i.e.

"Unable to open checkpoint, file starting from 0"

2 vatus

Btw, whilst not having received any, the logs posted still show backward resumes before later checkpoints, sample above a checkpoint is written at 5012, and then the next at 4898, without anything logged in between. If this is not a volunteers concern, another log idiosynchracy, please document in the project faq's

Re: New BETA test - Oct 6, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

we are sending out additional work units, these ones will have a max disk usage of 500MB to start with as well as better estimated fpops which will increase the max cpu time as well. We have seen a few results going large, but on average we are seeing this:

4 hours runtime
200KB uploaded

Please note that there are some results that do get a lot more data returned for them, but these do not appear to be within normal. By this I mean we will probably see about 1% of the results that show this characteristic, but we will also see another 1% that shows the opposite for result data returned.

The results that are going out now are still part of the original 5880 work units from the start of this beta.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: New BETA test - Oct 6, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

Seems to at least checkpoint ok. Work size is a bit random though, estimated flops is the same and after a runtime of around 20 minutes I have 16%, 11%, 11%, 3%.
I realize it might be difficult, but a better estimation on the required flops would be preferable.

I had to restart my system while some BETA's were running, on restart I did have one WU error out with a Computation error, others appear to be running fine.

Sorry! Returned 8 errors from my i7, probably caused by overcommitting the machine.
The errors occurred directly after the start of the tasks.

Re: New BETA test - Oct 6, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

All but two wimpy laptops loaded up with beta work. Run times are 4 to a projected 24 hours (and not on a weak system either).

No errors seen as yet. Hope the results and reports give you some useful information.
