I'd prefer to be able to alter my profile & settings 24/7 rather than look at results from 9 years ago, if that is the choice.

I would think that the 1200 UTC stats should be the ones that block access to the site, as most people in Europe should be at work at the time, and those of us in the US still asleep or early morning. However, for 0000 UTC there is a sizable number of us going through our evening routine, which for me includes checking forums and BOINC statistics.
----------------------------------------Of course, no interruption at all would be preferable... Who cares if a page or two might have slightly outdated stats? Who cares if a page or two might have slightly outdated stats? I do!And maybe prospective scientific organisations contemplating using WCG. In REAL science ALL results and all records are fundamental to scientific research. Discarding records in favour of being able to change your time zone 24/7/365 is ludicrous. |

I doubt they would care about the contributions over the past 12 hours, they're going to be looking at long-term averages to determine how long their project will take to complete. How is seeing no page more helpful than stats that are 12 hours old? All that's needed, is a simple "stats are being updated--some figures may be delayed by 12 hours" banner during the updates. |
