Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

Just curious about this. Maybe the things have been made bigger.

Don't seem to have any change in CPU usage or increase in Ram usage.

WUs I have run in the past couple of days that started with the upper case letters ran well under 2 hours, much closer to 1 hour. Had a couple than were just under 1 hour.

This ones current run time is 1:14:10 and completion %5.214.

At this speed it should complete in around 26 or 27 hours very roughly.

If this is expected that is fine with me. However, if this is not expected behaviour I would really like to know now and just drop the bugger.

Any information will be apreciated.

The FAHV WU's come in a variety of sizes. At this stage of the game I would not worry about it, but for a FAHV WU, that is pretty long. What OS are you using ?

Cheers

Seems like one of the last batches that came out has some very long work units. I have a number of these running in the 7-8 hour range on a 2.5 ghz Linux machine. Seem to be finishing ok and yielding a decent amount of points though.

Edit: Just looked at some of the work units in progress and I see the same thing, LEDG type work units that have run 7-8 hours and are only showing 25-39% complete. Not sure if its normal but at least its not just your machine.

Re: Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

I am running Debian Sid on a box I built with a Asus M5 A99fx Pro R2.0 MB, AMD 6300 6 core 3.5Ghz CPU with 8GB ram.

CPU setting at 85% leaves one core free at all times so I don't even notice this stuff running really even when doing fairly heavy image editing.

Uses about 10% of ram.

Have run about 1.3 years of CPU time on this project and have never seen this type of time.

On the other hand I was completely dorment since the middle of Feb when my old Dell up and died on me. Was running on a laptop which was an antique (about the model Columbus used to keep his records on). Certainly was not up to this kind of thing. Was barely up to running a modern browser. Images were definitedly worked very slowly, one at a time.

Glad to be back up and running. But it means I have not gotten a feel for WUs running now. Been up for just over a week now.

This strange WU is up to 18% now, seems to run consistently. Just concerned about wasting a core for a day on a potentialy bad package.

For this project I do see a lot of variation but more in the range on a scale, with 10 as median, from 6 to 15. The ones with the upper case F seem to hoover right around the median (9 to 12). So this one kind of took me by surprise being this slow.

Thanks for giving me some input. Certainly wasn't about to make any rash desision on a slow but aparently running WU. But your lack of wonder at the size makes my leaving it be much more comfortable.

If it turns out bad it will not be the first one although they are rare. I think in the over 15.5 years of CPU time I have run I have had 2. Can't remember what they were even for. Had the server abort one that was not a repair unit too for Clean Energy 1.

Am pretty sure I haven't seen one from this project run over 10 hours so something headed for more than 24 is a bit of a shock.

Even better news.

Great. I will simply watch it with interest.

I figured some folks would know what was up. Noticed that there were no posts about this as an issue.

Interestingly enough my machine is the same AMD Piledriver architecture as yours (opteron 6380).

Anyone with intel machines having similar run times or is there maybe a compatibility issue here?

Seems that the *LEDG* wu are really long running ones.
I have one that run 88 hrs on my android. Now I have two of them on one of my androids again with the same indication of long running. Compared to the normal runtimes on this specific android device it's 4-7 times longer.

Re: Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

First 10 LEDG work units just finished on my Opteron 6380 (2.5ghz) system.

Completion times ranging from 14:50 - 19:15 (that's hours not minutes)

In comparison, a single LEDG work unit finished on an i7-2600k @ 4.0 ghz in about 14:55

Workunit is LEDGFb_rig_0220993_0003_1

Not a big enough sample size yet on the i7 to determine an average run time for this wu type. I should mention the i7 is running on Win 7-64
