Re: Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

The more people that keep aborting long tasks means the longer they will stay around. If you have a fast I 7 I would encourage people to keep going with them. I have a first gen I 7 running at 3.43 GHZ I have a task that is currently at 40 hours and it looks like it's going to take another 8 at least this will probably finish on Sunday/Saturday US. I run my host around 12 hours a day. Currently running some other projects I am not telling people what to do am just suggesting.

Same to me... All my FAHV-WUs (8 WUs) are running for 1-2 days at the moment...

I give them 3 more hours more before I will abort them or maybe we get a hint here what to do!

Heh, I was wondering if my PC was finally breaking but it looks like some FAHV work units are just anomalously large.

Screw the points though, all I care about is that these work units produce useful data.

The feeder was clogged with work units requiring an android reliable host. These have now been manually set to be sent to other platforms. Once things start flowing a bit more normally, we should be able to get a better idea of how long until the newly built fahv work unit come up to the top of the queue. Thank you for your continued patience in this area.

Finally, and thank you, something i wont waste a post on quickly. My tab, being of that 'reliable' class was being inundated with these x3vq jobs and no telling if these were the properly cut or the monsters, hence me co-sabotaging the feeder flow. Atm, got as last receipt a _10 a _9 and a _11 which are going now return to sender.

It seems that I got 2 of these ginormous FAAH WUs...

FAHV_ x3VQD_ IN_ LEDGFa_ rig_ 0223655_ 0027_ 2-- R8XZ5B4 In Progress 9/17/14 12:12:26 9/21/14 00:12:26 0.00 / 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 (has run for over 26 hrs and is showing 6 hrs remaining and progress of 44%)
FAHV_ x3VQE_ A_ IN_ LEDGFb_ rig_ 0224802_ 0045_ 2-- R8XZ5B4 In Progress 9/17/14 12:12:26 9/21/14 00:12:26 0.00 / 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 (has run for 25 hrs and is showing 1 hr remaining and progress of 95%)

One of them looks like it will make it by the "Time due", but the other one looks doubtful that it will make it sad

Oh well, such is life (on the grid) wink

Re: Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

Update: BOINC has started loading some of the batches which were built after the work unit sizing fixes (note this is different than them being loaded into the feeder). Typically this occurs about 24 hours before the work units are sent out, but that estimate might be a bit low in this case given the variation in current work unit sizes.

Also, for the newly built work units, it was necessary to reset one of the mechanisms for estimating FAHV work unit sizes. As a result, there will be a bit of a learning curve and the run times will get adjusted based on real run time data being returned.

Thanks for the update Seippel.
What do you recommend for the 'old' long running workunits (especially on Android)? Should we cancel them manually? Or let them run to the bitter end?

If you're able to let them run to completion, the science is still valid and the results are useful (there are just more Vina jobs packed into a single work unit than there should be).
