We have identified a potential issue with the validator for CEP2 with the new style of work units. For now I have disabled the validator as to not cause any more results to be sent out on resend when a validation error occurs. We are working with the researchers to validate issue identified.
----------------------------------------Also, we are still working on fixing the file size issue. These are associated with workunits with many electrons. Once we have a solid answer on the max size required for the new style work units we will change the value and use this going forward. Writing at [Aug 13, 2014 4:07:06 AM] the validator is disabled to prevent new copy sending, yet on the 14th/15th more copies have been circulated. Did we miss an announcement of resuming cep2 or is the party hat being filled with goulash to keep us entertained

The validator has not be restarted. We are still working on a solution. Just because the validator is disabled, does not mean that resends of results that return in Computational Error do not get sent out for resend. The validator being shut down is to prevent resends based off of validation errors. There were checks put in the validator that worked well with the older style of workunits, but seem to have problems with the newer work units. We are working with the researchers to correct this and get CEP2 back running.
I'm not sure I want a party hat full of goulash, sounds like a lot of food :) Thanks, -Uplinger |

We are running a new beta test to hopefully get CEP2 back running full speed.

Any progress updates please? I have a handful of work units waiting to be validated. Any ETA on when the validator will be functional again? Many thanks,

Yes, an update would be appreciated - as this weekend, I'm going to be taking my laptop 'off the grid' for just over a week - thus, it'd be great if CEP2 is back up and running in time for me to fill my cache right up.
----------------------------------------With MCM1 only having a 7 day deadline, that's unfortunately just too short a timescale for this scenario, and I'm currently not looking to progress FA@H beyond my Sapphire badge. ![]() |

gb009761 there are a whole range of projects on the BOINC platform - not just WCG. A suitable one for your timescale would be Climate Prediction which has a range of jobs which range from 10 - 20 days approximately. Load up one per thread and it should keep you going for your off net break.
It is also British (UK Met. Office). Hopefully by the time you are back online, CEP2 will be as well. Mike Mike |

This must have been an enormous problem, because I can't remember as long a break with a project that was listed as being currently active.
