"Reconnecting to client"

For several days now (not sure exactly how long) my BOINC system tray icon has had a little doo-hicky on it. When I mouseover it, it says "Reconnecting to client."

Everything seems to be running as expected. It doesn't seem to have any difficulty connecting to the network, and my returned results for the last couple of weeks seem to be functioning within normal parameters, so there doesn't seem to be a problem, as such. And the usual menu comes up if I right-click on the icon - it's just when I mouseover that I see this weird message instead of the usual "computing enabled" or whatever it usually says.

So I'm wondering why the message. I'm concerned it might mean something isn't working right that I don't see. I just never saw this little doo-hicky before.

Running the new BOINC client on Windows 7, if that helps. I have it running 24/7 - 90% when idle and 40% when in use. The GPU is enabled, which is interrupted when the computer is in use.

Thanks!

As you could check by yourself, this info is not about BOINC's connection to the network, it only means that BOINC Manager is not able to connect successfully to BOINC.

Maybe you have not "allowed all users" when installing and you are not logged on as an admin user. If you are working as an admin user, first try the usual magic reboot to see if that fixes the problem.

If not, a re-installation of BOINC might be necessary.

Re: "Reconnecting to client"

The reboot seems to have done the trick. I had recently rebooted, so I didn't think that was it.

As for "checking by myself" about this, I wasn't able to find anything in the forums and wasn't sure where else to look, so no, I wasn't able to find out for myself. That's why I posted the thread.

Thanks for the help.

Re: "Reconnecting to client"

Fine that it's fixed.

I was simply meaning that you had checked that BOINC had no connection problem and was getting jobs, computing them and returning results as expected.
And no worry for asking about the other problem. This is the main purpose of this forum. smile

Cheers.
Jean.
