I have had that same problem. I send them off to the manufacturer to fix. (Read I am scared to attempt soldering it myself). I've call the manufacturer but they said me that the warranty is exceeded (2 years of warranty, I've bought it 2 years and 4 day ago...). I've a friend who works every days with this type of cards and has the Tools needed.. I hope he can doing something! 4 days...OUCH! That's cold. Now I know what the power connector is at least. Seems these days, it's our computers that we're having to tinker with. Remember the days when it was our cars? I've got a couple of copies of WIN7 Pro that I need to install on my two machines. Thanks to my Best Buy debacle, it's going to be the Vista machine that gets it first instead of the XP one. Nice thing though is the Microsoft has a WIN7 Upgrade Advisor tool you can download that is really nice at helping you sort out what programs, drivers and such you need to upgrade as well. Despite how quick we are to bash MS, I'm impressed with it. |

I'm working in a french company which is specialized on Microsoft technologies, if you need help i can maybe help you.. I've just seen my result for yesterday and when I've seen the score I've thinked that there is a problem. I've check on my dedicated server (debian OS) and I've "HTTP transient error" when boinc try to send my result. Have you the same problem or is it a problem with my network environment? (maybe a new filter..) Thanks in advance Cht! ![]() |

I have WIN7 Pro on my 3 machines and haven't had any problems. I tried using the upgrade advisor and did not get any satisfactory results. The setup I have now is good enough for me.

Good to hear your experience with WIN7. I found the upgreade advisor to be a good start for noting which programs and drivers will need to be upgraded to stay compatible. That will also be handy for dealing with the question - Do I really need this or can I delete it? From what I've been hearing recently, it sounds like MS is getting the WIN8 debacle addressed. I'm learning to remember that Windows versions are like Star Trek movies - only every other one is good. |

I'm learning to remember that Windows versions are like Star Trek movies - only every other one is good. It's not completly false, but Windows 8.1 is a new OS, so if we keep the same reasoning, it will be a good OS? :) I'm Working each days on several Windws 8.1 Computers and I never encounter problems, no BSOD since now 1 year.. The hardest is to adapt to the new interface which is not really easy at the begining, but is now user friendly with Windows 8.1 Update (and Windows 8.1 update 2 will be easier with the start menu that will come back!) ![]() |
