A wise man will one day say "I don't believe in the no-win scenario!", so change the ball in our advantage...so far BOINC is not permitted on Apple iTunes market...
----------------------------------------but lately I wrote the letter of suggestion to Apple to join with their official version of BOINC...something like HTC & Samsung already did! So if u would like, let's make Apple customer service overrun with mail of suggestion of BOINC on iOS...if they run it on MacOS, why not on iOS? And just count it here...here is 1st, who is 2nd? ;) ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Apr 30, 2014 12:29:38 PM] |

Sorry for the "echo", but I doubt Apple would provide the rights needed within iOS to let BOINC run properly. And, in case you haven't noticed, Apple is not really in the business of doing what customers want. I myself have been a fan of Mac computers for a long while, but especially when it comes to iThings they're in the business of telling you want you want. And you don't want BOINC on your phone, it's too complicated for the average (l)user and would require them to give up a bit of control with their operating system and hardware.

Hi, I'm replying 'cause u didn't get me the first time! NO, I don't want Apple to give up their right for iOS. I want THEM to make BOINC work on iOS! YES, they probably would want to say: This is good for YOU! But, even more so - how much ordinary USERS of iOS knows about BOINC & WCG? How many people could Apple open "their eyes" with installing that app on their phones? And lately on their MacOS's? And once u get to know their type of business model: "be better then the rest of the companies"! They u have to say, something like: "look, everybody is doing this, but it's doing it PURELY! Can Apple do better?" ;) |

I'm sure they would be happy to do that, if you're willing to shell out a subscription fee and only use a device that is compatible with the latest version of iOS.
----------------------------------------Furthermore, some people would probably be angry at the presence of such software on their devices... Remember the Internet Explorer legal proceedings? |

"Find my iPhone" was criticized at first (iOS6)...then it was mandatory (iOS7)...now they say: it's a great thing to use it - nobody can steal ur phone!
----------------------------------------same analogy goes here...use it if u want...later it maybe become "mandatory"... ;) |

I only want software on my devices that I WANT on there, not what OTHERS want, otherwise it is called "Bloatware". I dislike intensely being TOLD what is good for me and instinctively rebel, and I guess most peeps are like that

OK...then just tell Apple to make their version of BOINC...and put it available in iTunes AppStore...
----------------------------------------they don't have to "wave off rights" if they do it themselves! and many other companies do it for their mobiles...why not Apple? ;) |
