Boinc Manager fails to open

Why has the Boinc Manager stop opening when I click on it. It goes to the task bar and when I click on it...fails to open?

I have tried un-installing and re-install but has no effect...still will not open.

Re: Boinc Manager fails to open

Hello NKQX57A,
If you right-click on the bottom of your screen, then select 'Start Task Manager' from the popup window, does Task Manager show both boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe running?

Re: Boinc Manager fails to open

Both are showing; although they are 32-bit. I was sure that they were 64-bit at one time. Maybe the last download I did was a 32-bit version.

Re: Boinc Manager fails to open

Hello NKQX57A,
boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe are small programs that do not need 64-bit sizes. They can control large 64-bit programs, even though they run in 32-bits. If BOINC Manager shows in your tray and if Task Manager says that it is running, you should be able to double-click on the icon and bring it up on the screen.

Could you tell us more about your system?

Lawrence

Re: Boinc Manager fails to open

Doesn't the 32bit client have a limit on the number of cores/threads it can see? I was thinking for anything over 32cores you needed 64bit. I could be mistaken and I'm not implying that NKQX57A is having that concern. It is just good to know if there is in fact good reason to use the 64bit over the 32bit client. Especially as more systems increase thread count.

Re: Boinc Manager fails to open

Hello NKQX57A,
You have a good system.

I don't know why BOINC Manager does not open. I suppose the first thing to check is My Contribution - Results Status to see what the server thinks has been happening on your computer since BOINC Manager does not show your current status.

Re: Boinc Manager fails to open

Thank You! I am pleased with the system, but had a few problems at first.

My Contributions...last server download was 2/26...should have downloaded a few more tasks by this time.

When I hover over the Boinc Icon it reflects 8 tasks running. Yet the manager still will not open.

If you right click at this time do you see an Open option?
