Really Old Computer, How do I log into BOINC?

Hey all. I been here a while donating on 6 of my computers. My dad just gave me a Compaq Windows XP Machine and I just decided to install this on here for whatever reason. Usually when I install this, they will ask me to log in to BOINC right after I install it, but it didnt happen on this machine for whatever machine. I looked all over to see if I can fine it but couldn't, so I'm asking you, how do I add this old machine to my list of computers to contribute?

Re: Really Old Computer, How do I log into BOINC?

you probably want to choose projects that have the least system resource impact until you actually get to see what this machine will do, the Aids projects usually have the smallest footprint. and CEP has MAJOR impact. On my systems it usually takes anywhere from 1.5 hrs to 3.5 hrs to complete

Thanks for being a member of WCG

On my (quite new) systems (i7 and i5) CEP2 WU's take anywhere from 15 minutes to 18 hours. So I recommend to avoid this sub-project with your Really-Old-Computer wink

Cheers peace

I have a newer computer now, just haven't been uning it, until now. Now, I have 2 desktops that are running some bigger task, but still most of them are taking me a while to complete. About 6 hours average.

Vishera, I didn't see you post actual system specs of this Compaq. Just because it has XP doesn't mean it shouldn't run CEP2. I've had some pretty old systems that ran it just fine. I have a P3 laptop that still runs it from time to time. Granted, it will take a long time to complete, it can still contribute.
