Yeah my computer/boinc client received some tasks that take almost 10 times longer to complete than normal. On my i7 desktop Fight Aids projects usually take 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours and Mapping Cancer work units usually take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours.
But now all of the AIDs projects are showing over 22 hours to completion, and Cancer projects are showing 38 hours respectively. I just wanted to know is this normal? Have tasks been added with longer run times? I double checked to make sure my preference for computer run time was still at 100%. Thanks, Brandon |

Some task for me will take 6 hours, some will take 3 hours, depends on the task.

Some task for me will take 6 hours, some will take 3 hours, depends on the task. Yes I know task completion times always vary a bit. But I have new tasks that will take between 22-38 hours to complete, instead of the usual 3-6 hours. So I'm just trying to make sure this is normal (that they released work units with longer run times) and that its not something going on with my computer. |

When you say"to completion" are they actually running or just ready to run?

When you say"to completion" are they actually running or just ready to run? They are actually running, they are running under high priority status and other work units have been put on hold. The really weird thing is that eight mapping cancer units all started at the same time, they each have 4 hours 10 minutes of run time, but their time to completion varies drastically. I will list their time left in hours (3, 5.5, 22, 16, 10.75, 10.4, 7.5, 1.3). It just doesn't make any sense to me! ![]() |

Those times are fairly similar to mine. My MCM have ranged recently from 4hrs to 30hrs. Usually 8 to 10hrs seems to be the rough average but there are some around at the moment that are larger. One I noticed the other day had 11hrs completed with 18hrs to go. A couple of hours later the estimate completion time had barely changed but % complete had gone up so I assume that the unit is purposely creating some extra work, whether this is rechecking a calculation or processing some extra data due to the result of some part of the work already done?

I actualy noticed an increase in the FAHV runtimes.
----------------------------------------Before they used to take between 1-3 hours but now they are getting to the 4-6 hour range. No big deal though. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

If you have not rebooted your computer lately, you should do that. You should also check to make sure your unit is not overheating and throttling itself down. The FAHV vina units should be fairly quick with the FAAH autodock units being somewhat longer. The MCM1 units will vary widely in length, but with an I7 cpu, I would think you should not have any over about 30 hours.

Thanks guys! I just wanted to be sure it was normal to have these longer run times. The actual time to completion is a little shorter than the estimate but they're still a lot longer than I've been used to.
I did re-boot my computer, it seems fine and do not think it is overheating. It stays between 54-57C running 24/7 at 100% cpu time. I have a cooler master gemini S524 heat sink fan. |

I too have had 15 hour tasks on MCM and 12 hour tasks on FAAH, but have received correspondingly larger points credit on validation.
